the exhibition of „burning of books“

Today is the 88th anniversary of the book-burning of the Nazis on May 10, 1933. „Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.“ (Jorge Augustín Nicolás Ruiz de Santayana) has been the motto for the Mail Art Campaign „Burning Of Books“ by Peter Schubert.

The response testifies to the unbroken importance of the topic:
Over 100 contributions from all over the world reached the Mail Art Artist in physical form, who has thus become the curator of an art collection that was born as an idea in the virtual space and spread through the mailbox of the initiator into our real world.
Starting today, the works can be seen in the Public Library of Geislingen, but due to covid actually only digital.

Although the official call for „Burning Of Books“ is over since March 2021, it is still possible to participate for this call with no limitations in time. No need to remain silent, never again is now.

This is my intended work for the cancelled exhibition about „Burning Of Books“ in May 2020.

Thanks for all the participants until today and I hope, there will be plenty more due to the call closes now in March 2021.

First dialogues for possible places for an exhibition has been held and it looks like we have the chance to present our work during a 3 week art event.

More tba.
